What are some good discipleship and evangelism books?
Discipleship Books:
The best one of them all: The Master Plan of Evangelism, by Robert Coleman. It is all about evangelism and discipleship. It has started the American Church’s discussions about evangelism and discipleship. There is probably no church planting movement without this book. I think this will go down as the most important Christian book of the 20th century.
The Training of the Twelve by A.B. Bruce. This book greatly influenced Robert Coleman
Discipleshift by Jim Putman and Robert Coleman. I love Robert Coleman, and I love Jim Putman. Putman lays out some basics for discipleship, and Robert Coleman chimes in. It is a really good, straightforward book.
The Lost Art of Disciple-making by Leroy Eims. Just what it says!
Becoming Five: Becoming a Multiplying Church. The book to understand why multiplication movements are so important for the Church, and what it takes to move to being a multiplying church.
Cultivating a Life for God, by Neil Cole. I think that Life Transformation Groups are one of the best discipling tools there are. This book lays out the basis and process.
Evangelism Books:
The best how-to book: Beyond Awkward by Beau Crosetto. Trinity Hill people, Beau will be doing some training with us and for us! You will be blown away by him. He has a way of helping people reach people!! I can’t say enough about this book.
Words to Winners of Souls, by Horatius Bonar, edited by Robert Coleman
A Basket of Fragments, by Robert Murry M’Cheyne. These are thoughts on revival from one of the greatest preachers.
Out of The Salt Shaker and Into The World, by Becky Pippert. Becky Pippert was one of the first to write a book to help everyday people have everyday conversations about Jesus.
A Somewhere-in-Between Book: Letters to the Church by Francis Chan. Probably the most challenging book on the list. Chan seems to have two obsessions, which are probably the best 2 to have: a desire to promote God’s holiness, and multiplying disciple-making.
