I Have a Fever... and the Only Prescription Is More VBS!!!!
Vacation Bible School ended last night (writing this Saturday, July 26). This was one for the books. The team outdid themselves on decorations. The meals were awesome for the kiddos. Everywhere the kids went, registration, crafts, music, games, story time it was just awesome.
Back in Morehead, Jessie started writing the curriculum for our VBS. There was encouragement from a youth ministry legend, Diamond Dave Sheffel. We just felt that the curriculum coming from the publishing houses was weak on the Bible, evangelism, and discipleship. Here at Trinity Hill, Mattea Vanzee ran with it and has developed some good stuff. The kids hear a Gospel message in an age-appropriate way, and we really emphasize the Word. There are too many shout outs to give bc I guess each night we have 60+ volunteers.
Mattea gave the closing lesson, bringing all the parts together and sharing the Gospel with the kids and their families. She did an amazing job and I had a great time with the Lord where I considered that I really love to hear preaching. He wonderfully saved me 30 years ago and I find that I love His Word and will gladly hear it at any opportunity.
This was Josh Barker's first VBS. His mind was blown and it reminded me of years back, helping with my first VBS when I was a brand new Christian. "What? There's such a thing as VBS?!" It's amazing. 5 days of absolute Jesus madness! Ha! I still remember the memory verse of that VBS: "Be imitators of God, as dearly belived children--" could it be that my discipleship mania started there?!?!?!?! You have no idea how deep VBS will sink its roots!! Even in adults!!!!
