On Our Way
We are in the Louisville airport. We being Ben Bowman, Jessie, and I. On our way to the Global Methodist General Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Jessie is a delegate, as is Ben. I am tagging along as a man-about-town i.e. doing whatever work needs done at the Conference and catching up with missionary friends in San Jose.
I hope to be able to give regular updates here on my Substack. Subscribe if you have not already, and don’t mind the prompt to pay… my substack is free.
I am very hopeful for the General Conference. May we ratify who we have been trying to be:
Local church as the place where resources are kept close to home so the local church can do the ministry it is called to.
Bishops whose role is apostolic and evangelistic.
A clear and simple path to ordination.
Priortizing church planting.
We are in a sticky and nebulous phase; starting anew, trying to keep the vision without slouching back into the institutional forms we so recently escaped. It’s a good place to be… just not always as comfortable as we might like.
Alright peeps. I am signing off for now. Keep your eyes peeled for new posts.
