The best book you have never read: Anabasis, by Xenophon.
Now for the really big news:
The Global Methodist Church’s first General Conference will be in San Jose, Costa Rica, Sep 20-26, 2024.
For me, the Global Methodist Church has been like Christmas everyday; planting churches like crazy, working with people I wish I’d met 20 years ago, a fresh wind of the Spirit propelling us onward and now hearing that the General Conference will be in Costa Rica. The important part is it is outside the U.S. We are the GLOBAL Methodist Church, after all, and I am so stoked that our leaders have seen fit to take such a step.
General Conference will be where we ratify our Book of Doctrines and Discipline. Go check it out at https://globalmethodist.org/ The GMC Book of Discipline is streamlined and all about the mission of Jesus. These are exciting times. We do not have money or institutional power; we have the endowment Jesus left us.
If, out of all this, we can embed the Gospel idea of multiplication in our churches and disciples— that churches plant churches and disciples make disciples— imagine what God will do through that obedience! That kind of work is being done globally… so may it be the fire starts here in the U.S. as well. Perhaps a General Conference in Costa Rica is just what we need to get it lit off.
