Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant
Jimmie Rose left this life peacefully yesterday evening.
There is so much to say, but it will have to wait. What I will say is that I called him twice from the Asbury Revival, to tell him it was going on, and to let him hear the singing.
He was converted at the 1950 revival, and was called to the ministry. He was one of Kentucky’s greatest high school basketball coaches. He coached his brother, Gayle, whose jersey hangs from the rafters in Rupp. He was sitting on the bench with Rupp, was possibly going to be an assistant with Rupp.
He answered the call, served churches in Kentucky, planted one of Florida’s fastest growing churches, had an amazing career as an evangelist.
I owe him so much. His encouragement, his wisdom. I bless Jack Ellis for insisting that I meet Jimmie, about 10 years ago.
Jimmie had many trials and sufferings. He is home now. At peace. With the Lord.
