Strange Things Are Afoot
I have spent a number of years pushing for church planters to be willing and able to raise funds, because church planting ain’t easy, and it ain’t free.
But nobody has really taken it seriously.
Until now.
A fellow who attended a meeting we had last year about how home groups can be a means to launch new churches, came to see me today. We were going to talk about planting a church where he lives. He said that at the seminar, we talked about raising money to launch new churches. So he put 100 $100 bills on my desk.
There is such a wave of the Spirit in the GMC pushing people forward with greater and greater commitment.
We went to the bank and deposited the money to our conference church planting fund. My FBI agent is really miffed. He had a cushy gig keeping tabs on a boring pastor… until today.
I’ve been to 6 GMC events in the past year across 5 states. As part of the megachurch& church growth movement for 18 years, I can definitely attest.. since covid, the church growth conferences are panicky and anxiety ridden. The various conferences in the Wesleyan world full of disaffiliated congregations (GMC and others..) ....FULL of faith. One guy told me it’s like Emmaus walk 52 weeks a year. So excited!
